Disney Emoji Blitz is a match-three puzzle game played with with emojis. These are all based on Disney and Pixar franchises. The player completes levels to progress, but at the same time more than 400 emojis can be unlocked to use with a separate keyboard for the player's device. They can then be used to include them in messages to other people outside of the game. The player switches the position of two emojis on the board to create a line of three emojis or more, horizontally or vertically, in a straight line. Larger combos with four or five emojis creates a cloud that can be matches with anything for a blast, a sun that clears an entire column, or a star that removes all emojis of the one it is swapped with from the board. Combos can be performed quickly in succession. In addition one of the unlocked emojis can be used during gameplay as a power-up. Creating matches with that type of emoji fills up a meter at the bottom and once full the icon can be tapped to activate a power. Clearing emojis fills up a Blitz meter as well and once full the Blitz mode is activated for a short time for extra points. There are various challenges that can be completed to level up and receive rewards such as new emojis and coins. When emojis are used in games a meter is filled to upgrade their point value when the power-up is activated. Each emoji also has its own power level. All levels are fairly identical, usually with the objective to score a certain amount of points with a limited amount of time. Boards also contain items that can be brought to the bottom of the board to collect them. These are used to complete item sets and more rewards. The best scores can be compared against other players worldwide. The game is free-to-play with an energy/stamina system for waiting times, coins as a basic currency and gems as a premium one. Gems can be used to skip missions and to acquire additional lives (energy). In the Emoji Shop there are free prizes and daily emoji boxes, as well as silver and gold boxes that require a lot of coins. These boxes usually contain new emojis. Coins can also be used to activate boosters before starting a new game, providing extra time, extra score, full power, more items, or turning cloud power-ups automatically into suns.

I have played a lot of this. Is it anything special, not really. But it’s a good time waster like many other mobile games. They’ve recently added more stuff to get you to spend your gems on, and overall made it more confusing to just play. But it’s not bad. And I’ve got the Grogu emoji, so that’s a big plus.

Mobile games are confusing. So much going on with upgrading and buying currencies. I miss the OG times of Cute the Rope, Plant Zombies, and Angry Birds. This game is like 100 other games on the App Store. Oh so not original.
