Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
I got this for my 8th Birthday, played it all day and then for the next 3 nights I had Nightmares. My Mom ended up taking it back.
I did play through it a couple of years and I enjoyed the story.

The first one is more appealing to me in that you can jump right into combat. The RPG elements in this sequel are a turn-off.

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
This was the only Castlevania I owned as a kid. It's crazy hard. There's like no way you could beat this game without a Nintendo Power back in the day. Plus the music legit scared me (I was 27, give me a break) (JK I was like 8 or 9).
It's good, just old school Nintendo hard.

I feel much the same way about this game that I do about ET for Atari. Ambitious, misunderstood, and ahead of its time, but it doesn’t have the same excuses that game had as far as I know. It looks and sounds great and there are some really cool ideas here, even if they aren’t implemented especially well. Plus, there are just some utterly baffling decisions. Why are the boss battles such a disappointment? Why do the townspeople outright lie to you? Nonetheless, I do pick this one up occasionally and have a fun time when I do

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
Not my favorite Castlevania game for sure. But it was their attempt of trying to bring the RPG style weapons and upgrades that was perfected in Symphony of the Night and the other games on GBA and NDS. Also, this game is the reason the amazing Bloody Tears exists.

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
The peak of the NES experience for Castlevania and the reason the "vania" part of "Metroidvania" exists. As with so many sequels on the NES they perfected the controls, the gameplay is cleaner. Holds up still.

What a horrible night to have a curse... having to see this over and over again keeps this game from getting 5 stars
