Cool game to watch, very anti-beginner friendly imo due to how high the base skill level of players in the game is since it came out 20+ years ago.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2
This game gets hate for almost no reason? People like to dunk on its voice acting which, yes, they are correct the voice acting is horrible but there's more to a game than voice acting and the people that hate this game have never actually played it. Anyways, this game is strictly a better version of the original—better combat, better quests, better postgame, better OST, and even a better sidestory in terms of Torna the Golden Country. This game's story is good, until you realize Rex is a child and cannot be mature enough to handle some cutscenes. Good thing, however, that the villains and side-characters are enough to make the game still have emotional beats, specifically with Morag, Zeke, and Jin. In comparison to 1, I feel like 2's peaks are higher, specifically end of Ch7, 9 and 10, but 1 is a better story overall. In terms of combat, postgame, and the soundtrack, 2 blows 1 out of the water. 3 accessory slots, up to 3 aux cores, tons of unique skills on blades' skill trees, 2 pouch items, and 3 equippable blades to each driver gives tons of options to run. So many blades can do absolutely insane amounts of damage with just level 1 specials, and the amount of postgame there is is amazing, specifically in challenge mode and bringer of chaos. BoC is an insanely difficult mode with enemies like Cloud Sea King Ken having 50 million hp. Challenge mode is also extremely fun with tons of different levels to do. I still don't understand how a blade with the class of "healer" does the 2nd highest damage overall but that's a different story. The soundtrack of 2, like I mentioned in 1's review, is just amazing. So many good songs that I don't even know where to start—listen to this soundtrack it's sooooo good. All in all, Xenoblade 2 is an amazing game that, although may appeal to a smaller audience with its more anime-style graphics, is an incredible game nonetheless.

Xenoblade Chronicles
After finishing Xenoblade 3 an a decent amount of its postgame content, I feel like rating each of these games is a necessity. First off, the original Xenoblade Chronicles, and Definitive Edition...and Future Connected. Let's start off with the story: amazing, is there anything else that needs to be said? The concept of living on titans has and will always be cool and the story's climax is absolutely amazing. I do feel, however, a lot of what leads up to the climax/mini climaxes and what leads up to the finale is a bit underwhelming but there are so many plot points that need to be resolved that the bland points kind of just get nullified from all the action happening. The fact they reused the voice acting from the Wii version for the Definitive Edition is lazy but it's whatever in the long run. However, the game is worse in three other areas that I feel are a necessity for me: combat, postgame, and OST. The easiest to critique, combat, is something pivotal in an RPG. However, waiting half a minute for an art to recharge is boring and one of the main problems I have with the game. Yes, you do get a lot of arts and you can upgrade them so cooldowns are faster, but I feel like it just isn't even a match for 2 or 3's fast-based max-damage single hit combat. In terms of postgame, there isn't much to do except Colony 6, affinity charts, and time attack which is quite sad. Quests in this game are especially dull with the majority of them being something along the lines of: kill this thing. now kill it 5 more times. now kill it 10 more times. Wow how fun. And finally, the soundtrack. The soundtrack is, after all, from a Xenoblade game which means it's good, but it's not nearly as good as 2 or 3's in my opinion. Some songs like Guar Plains, You Will Know Our Names, Mechanical Rhythm, and Engage the Enemy are great but they don't hold a candle to Uncontrollable, Drifting Soul, One Last You, Those Who Stand Against Our Path, You Will Recall Our Names, Incoming!, The Weight of Life, and You Will Know Our Names ~Finale. Now, maybe I am being a bit harsh because it is the first in the series and came out in 2010, but issues are still issues and are ones that make me not want to revisit this game sometimes. Oh and I guess I should talk about Future Connected. Not much else to say but it's fun, good side story, not as good as Torna. Overall, this game is amazing but has several problems with it that cannot be overlooked. Still a game everyone should play if you like RPGs, if only to play the sequels.

There's a reason why this game became a meme and has ruined around 7 words in the English language for the rest of this earth's lifespan

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
This game is the remake of FE2, or Gaiden...aaaand it makes FE2 almost irrelevant in my opinion. This game is extremely fun, with combat arts being a very interesting way to spice up the old Fire Emblem formula. Unlike in Three Houses, many SoV combat arts actually take away HP instead of weapon durability, allowing for another factor to account for when sending your Jeigan into battle. The story is also very well-written with its "divine pulse-esque" mechanic very similar to that of Three Houses, but better written. This is also a great game to start with in the FE Series, although maybe a bit more complex than FE7 and a bit more difficult than Awakening.

Fire Emblem Fates (Conquest, Birthright, and Revelation)
This game...exists? It really tried to ride in the wake of Awakening but is strictly inferior in many ways. For starters, the story. A really "Netflix Adaptation-y" version of Three Houses with two of the games, Conquest and Birthright, purposely having "bad" endings to make you buy Revelation for the "true" ending. Fun marketing gimmick, am I right? The gameplay is still fun (barring about half the maps on lunatic mode) because it is a Fire Emblem game, but the character writing and story could be better.

Fire Emblem Awakening
A very...controversial Fire Emblem game. It has an...interesting story to say the least and some new mechanics like pair-up, infinite weapon uses, unlimited grinding, and casual mode make this a great game to start with, but won't be a great game to "learn" Fire Emblem, if that makes sense. The gameplay is still really fun (or maybe I just enjoy TRPGs), and a lot of the characters are really likeable. Does this game deserve 3 reps in Smash? No, but it's still a great game.

Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem
FE12 is a very fun game. You can reclass almost every single unit into almost every single class, allowing for a large amount of customization with the only thing preventing you from having 10 draco knights is the class maximum in the battle prep screen. The story is also very good, but you should play either fe1 or fe11: shadow dragon in order to understand the story since this game is a direct sequel to it. Great game, great combat, not much else to say.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
The final GBA Fire Emblem game and in my opinion, the best. The class system is objectively better than FE7's with more class options making progression less linear. There's also a new weapon type (woo). And there's even different stories like in FE7 (kind of). All in all, great game and if you've played FE7, you'll love this game as well.

Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
What more is there to say about this game that hasn't been said? GBA FE games' combat is extremely simple but also extremely fun. Great story as well. The personal side-quests of visiting every village and full recruitment can also add to the enjoyment and challenge of this game on hard mode. The only slight problem with it is that the tutorials are very slow and somewhat handholdey which can be annoying on replays but also means this game is a great place to start with the Fire Emblem Series. This problem can also be fixed very easily using mods unless you're actually playing it on a GameBoy which...why? There's also a slight problem with uniqueness, with like 10,000 cavaliers and paladins and just as many axe users, but that's a minor problem at that. All in all, great game and a great game to start playing Fire Emblem with.

Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
This starts my long (and when I say long, I mean long) journey of rating every single Fire Emblem game I've played. And why not start out with the oldest? This game, unfortunately, did not get a western release, but that doesn't make translated versions of it bad! This game's story is arguably the best story told in any FE game and if I get into even the smallest amount of it, it'll be massive spoilers. Just know the story of this game is absolutely incredible, and an amazing experience. The combat, however, is....questionable. Theorizing strategies is honestly more fun than actually playing the game at times. Many maps are extremely large with not much to do, leading to almost all of your foot units will be left behind due to a lack of Rescuing, which was introduced in this game's sequel, Thracia 776. Mechanics like holy blood, love growth, and personal gold are interesting at first but become slight nuisances later on, specifically the latter two. I'd give this game's story a 5, but the combat a 3, so it averages out to 4. Great game, and should be played blind.

Multiversus
A fun platform fighter. Originally thought it'd be somewhat of a flop like a certain other platform fighter from another company but I don't think that'll be the case for MultiVersus. Gameplay is really fun and being F2P is an added bonus. Unlock system is a bit like Pokemon Unite with new characters being free for a limited time to try them out.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Being my favorite game of 2019 is no easy task, but this game was amazing, with me replaying this game 12+ times by now using completely new builds (and memes) on units. The characters are fun and unique, with 3 fully-fleshed out routes (no, I'm not missing one, notice I said fully-fleshed out). On top of the story, this Fire Emblem game brought to the table some interesting mechanics like adjutants and gambits (both of which are completely broken but I digress).

And for me, the gameplay is THE defining factor of this game. Unlike other FE games, every unit can be almost every class in the game, with 5 ability slots, a personal skill, 3 combat arts, and a crest for maximum customization. This game's normal and hard modes are good to start out with but maddening mode is extremely fun. Having the enemies be 7+ levels higher than you with insane base stats sounds daunting but becomes surprisingly fun after a certain point in time, except for surprise reinforcements, making divine pulse almost a necessity on maddening. Sure, it's not as difficult as FE12's Reverse Lunatic or Thracia on 0% growths, but it's much more reasonable and, in my opinion, more fun than older FE difficulties that will give you nightmares. You can even 1-turn all of the final maps on every route on maddening, so that's fun I guess.

Shin Megami Tensei V
An extremely fun game. Persona is a spinoff of SMT, so if you enjoy the Persona series, check this game out as well! Unlike games like SMTIII: Nocturne and even Persona 5 to an extent, this game is much more open-world and a lot less dungeon-y than other MegaTen games. This game's combat is extremely fun and tactical, with smart use of press turns being crucial to even beating the first few bosses. This game is hard, but that means you're somewhat forced to explore the gigantic areas for experience, macca, essences, and recruiting demons. And let's talk about demons. Demon fusion in STMV is some of the most polished and overpowered yet that can allow demons like a level 99 pixie or slime viable to some extent, as well as leveling the playing field for normal fusion and special fusion demons. On top of this, there are multiple endings you can get, as well as tons of quests and features that will fly the time by in an instant.

This game, however, does have some graphical issues such as texture popping, and lag whenever loading a save file or fast-traveling. However, I am not sure if that is because of the game itself, or the fact it's exclusively on the Nintendo Switch, a console with the same processing power as a kitchen sink with wires attached to it. On top of this, I'm still not a fan of Atlus's Day-1 DLC obsession making content that should've already been in the base game locked behind a paywall just to squeeze a few more dollars out of the fanbase.

This game is amazing, and a must-play for any Persona or SMT fans. Maybe don't play it in front of your kids, though :)

Triangle Strategy
I might be the only one who has played this game here, and that's a true crime! This game is like the child of FF Tactics and FE: 3 Houses. And if a stranger were to describe this child to its parents, they would say it has the same looks as mommy tactics but the personality of daddy houses (end my suffering). This game has extremely fun combat, and mechanics like follow-up attacks, and back-attacks making not only positioning, but also which direction your units face important. Sure, you can't enemy phase at all, but the action economy being so strict makes every decision extremely important. On top of this, there's 30 different units and over dozens of split-path decisions that will heavily impact the story. Speaking of the story, each of the main characters are very well-developed with the other side characters also being developed in support conversations with other units (sounds familiar, doesn't it?). The scales of conviction mechanic is also interesting, since depending on which dialogue options you choose can cause different units to join your army. There are only two extremely small complaints I have with this game. 1: there's no permadeath option. I understand most characters shouldn't die because of the scales of conviction and story reasons, but making the option available would be nice. 2: some units play very similarly to others. This isn't really a complaint because there are exactly 3 units that play somewhat similarly to 3 others because of story reasons, and even then they still have different abilities and TP attacks. Overall, this game was extremely fun. I went through every route, chose every decision, and got every ending. I highly recommend this game if you like tactical RPGs like Fire Emblem.

Final Fantasy X-2
A funny game. It has a really good OST, just as fun combat as FFX, and was a good attempt at a sequel to FFX. This game, however, does not know the concept of a plot, though. Creature creator seemed like a fun gimmick, but I didn't find myself using it as much as, say, blitzball in FFX.

Final Fantasy X
Super fun game, great characters, great story, blitzball, and some....*ahem* "fun" ways to get the celestial weapons. The only small complaint I have with this game is that the maps can be somewhat linear, but a miniscule complaint in the grand scheme of things.

Pokémon Legends Arceus
This game definitely brought something new to the table not yet seen in a mainline Pokémon game. And as such, this game is a prototype of what seems to be, after the introduction of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the direction Game Freak wants to take the Pokémon series in. I thought this game was very fun, with the unique catching mechanic. However, after registering every Pokémon into the Pokédex, I struggled to find any other reason to play the game other than shiny hunting. Very fun game, just wish there was more to do in the post-game.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
This game really is something, huh? It truly is, in terms of pure numbers, the magnum opus of Masahiro Sakurai. 80+ playable characters, each with their own unique personality and move set. More than 100 stages, and over 1000 songs to pick from. And the amount of hard work and effort it took to complete this game is infinite. I have had a ton of fun with this game, but the more I played, the less satisfying it's become for me. The competitive aspect of this game is still fun to watch, but having to master dozens of matchups takes an enormous amount of commitment and dedication that simply isn't there for me, and I've slowly stopped playing the game. There is, however, the added caveat that the developers of Smash Bros. never intended this series to be competitive, by any stretch of the imagination. And for that, with the viewpoint of a non-competitive player, this game is amazing. Yes, there is no subspace emissary, trophies, or other single-player fun like in previous iterations. However, game modes like the new-and-improved classic mode, stage builder, home-run contest, World of Light (although not hitting the peak of storytelling like Brawl's Subspace Emissary, it is still a fun mode), squad strike, and, if you are a complete psychopath, getting every single character into Elite Smash. And the communities I have joined as a result of playing this game have impacted my life in such a way, that words are not enough to describe how great it has been to...absolutely destroy every single one of you with my worst characters! But in all seriousness, I thank every one of you that I have played in an arena seriously, or casually. Although I have not played a long session of Smash Bros. in a while, that urge will eventually come back. 5/5 stars.
