Just finished this one and it really is a great game. Definitely worth checking out if you're into Metroidvania games. Great looking and solid game play. The difficulty is just right, challenging but not impossible.
I really wanted to like this game. It looks great, which got it 2 stars but, I was disappointed.
Controls are fine, until the game decides you're now playing a 2D platformer almost out of nowhere. Camera angels can get weird. The story is lackluster and the tasks on each island are soooo repetitive. The boss fights should be awesome, but they aren't. Instead Super Sonic flys around and makes short work of them. Only the sometimes weird camera angels make it difficult.
You can see how it was influenced by Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild but doesn't come close to that level of game play. Sorry, Sonic!
My favorite part of this game is if you managed to complete all the trainings with acceptable scores, you were put into a combat mode with a helicopter... but none of the game's training up to that point had anything to do with a helicopter. Silly game.
This is a great addition to the series and has some cool mechanics with slowing time down and such. Traditional Mega Man difficulty, so be ready for some trial and error. Nothing like reaching a boss only to find you don't have the right weapon to beat them.
I will admit when this first came out, I was worried about it not being a traditional 2D platformer. But this game was really fun and I remember feeling like the atmosphere was legit.
This one gets a 4 because of how incredible it was at time of release. It is tough to go back and play current day, which is not the case for the best SNES games
What you have here is another drop down puzzler. If you're going to call a game Yoshi, you'd think it would be more running around with Yoshi. You know, eating shit and carrying plumbers to where they need to be.
Quarter muncher for sure. Fun story, the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas (which is gone now) used to have a small arcade by the elevators. One night, after many hours or poker and craps, a buddy and I stopped in and beat this game. Not sure how many quarters we sank, but it was a great time.
Mashing buttons is always a good way to relieve stress. I actually always loved some of the enemy names in this game. Axl and Slash - I mean come on, Guns N' Roses all day!
I always thought it was cool you were rescuing captured soldiers instead of just blowing shit up. Two players is a great time with a buddy or your kids
I'm not sure if anyone else even owned this game, but I remember how funny some of the names were. As a Baltimore fan, Cal Ripken Jr. is an all time favorite ball player. In this game his name was Cal Nekpir (just his last name spelled backwards). There were some clever adaptations of famous guys. Good times playing this one with the family.
Really cool puzzle game that I remember fondly. I actually commented to my 10 year old that Hex-a-Gone in Fall Guys reminded me a little of Q*bert. He had no idea what the hell I was talking about.
I can't recall any time while playing any Mega Man game that I thought "man, I wish I could stop shooting these guys and play them in soccer instead", but here we are. It's actually kind of fun
Call it VI or call it III, it's a great addition to the Final Fantasy franchise. Really cool steampunk vibe and great gameplay. You can easily go back to this one at any point and have fun with it.
My all time favorite in the series. Entering Hyrule Field for the first time in this game lets you know how epic it is going to be... and it doesn't disappoint.
I can remember renting this one from Blockbuster and being amazed. While I do think 3 is a little better, the controls, level design, boss fights, and the music are all among the best of any NES game. I'd rate the music the absolute best from the NES. This game made us all fall in love with Mega Man.
I've put a lot of hours into exploring and enjoying everything the game has to offer. Currently on my 5th play through and every time I experience the game in a new way. Even though it doesn't follow the traditional Zelda game play it has an excellent story and so many puzzles within the shrines.
Like many NES games this one requires a lot of time to figure out how to get through the levels. You will lose... a lot. But it's fun and satisfying every time you advance a little further.
Classic game with excellent music. Sometimes I feel like the hit box is wonky on this one, but otherwise a great addition to the SNES and a great way to introduce DK to a new generation
Agree with pretty much everything that has already been said about this gem. Games like this are what make the SNES possibly the greatest console of all time.
This game is an absolute gem. I really loved the look and design after Windwaker's more cartoonish effort. Great story, great villains, and great items (although at times they felt underused). This ranks 4th among LoZ games for me.
Not only a great racing game but introduced me to a great gaming community. The game itself never gets old and with new tracks coming we'll be playing for years to come. OK!
But seriously, this was a game I played after renting from Blockbuster and let me tell you, a weekend of limited playing time is not enough to even crack the surface. There are some cool elements here - some which have stayed with the series (i.e. interacting with town people). But in the end, this was too ambitious for the poor NES to handle. If you're a fan of the series, it's a must play for nostalgia reasons. Link's Shadow is a really cool way to end.
In a world where most games made you just go to the right, this one drops you on a screen with paths to the north, west, and east - not to mention a cave entrance. No hints, no clues, just go explore. Awesome.
Without this game, we wouldn't have Shy Guys available in games like Mario Kart or Mario Golf. It's fun, but can't compete with the other games in the Super Mario Bros. universe.
Like almost all LoZ games, this one is really fun to play. I was never a huge fan of toon link, but it was an interesting take on the classic hero. Biggest issue is the parts of the adventure where it feels like you're on open seas, with nothing going on, for way too long. The final boss battle is excellent.
OK so this is one of my least favorite in the series. I never enjoyed the 3 day timeframe mechanic and the entire story just felt lackluster to me. While I do enjoy some of the gameplay with the masks (rolling around as a Goron is awesome), it always felt like the game was too reliant on that aspect. Some of the boss fights are incredible though and this game is definitely worth giving a shot if you are a fan of the series.
Such a great golf game. The match play run is pretty difficult toward the end. I credit this game for any and all skill I have in current golf games (looking at you Mario Golf Super Rush)
Love playing this game online with friends and even strangers. Controls are simple, but the courses and conditions add enough variety to make it challenging. I boot this up anytime I need to relax.
I never liked that you really only had half the screen to navigate your bike, not to mention it makes no sense that all the people in the neighborhood were out to harm you. Also the grim reaper popping up is too much
When your in-game shop is named "Porkrind's Emporium" you're doing something right. This game is frustratingly difficult, but otherworldly satisfying when you beat a boss. I literally opened a bottle of champagne when I beat that dragon.
