I didn’t play this for very long. When I started the games were fun, and people worked together. But then it turned to everyone for themselves and voting out anyone for any reason. But the concept is a lot of fun. When the games go well, it’s excellent. Gameplay is relatively simple, playing the imposter is probably more stressful for me than worrying about getting taken out by the imposter. Would definitely play again, with a controlled group of people instead of internet randos. Among us Cr3w night perhaps?
Fun party game to play with friends. You can see how fast your "friends" will literally stab you in the back when you trust them.
Not so much fun to play with randoms on the internet but still fun.
This is the type of game that is hilarious depending on the group of people you’re playing with. Bunch of clowns in your lobby? Going to be a blast ! Got some dull monotone people? Might be a drag or easy to decipher who’s who. Super easy controls and the point of the game is simple (complete tasks and try and find out who’s the sussy boy before everyone is killed. )
I give this a floating, middle of the road 3 stars, in that it depends on who you're playing with. A good friend group with good comms? 4 or maybe even 5 on a good night. Randoms and especially without comms? 1-2 easily.
Tried it when it got big in 2020 but I just couldn't get into it. Lobby's were often filled with a bunch of weirdos. I downloaded it once for a quest and deleted. Creepster lobby names that just turned me off to the game. Not for kids.
If we were back when this just came out it would easily be five stars but now in the time we’re in we’re this game fell off and never gives updates it’s much lower
Despite (but maybe in addition to) all the memes, Among Us is legitimately super fun to play with friends, whether you're just goofing around or actually trying to play seriously (which rarely happens because amogus). I haven't played the most recent update with the account stuff and quests and new customization but I think all of those things sound cool anyways. It's more fun to play with a bunch of friends than with strangers, which makes it difficult to find enough people to play at the right time, especially now that the game isn't as popular (and most of my friends don't want to play it anymore). But yeah besides that, pretty fun game :)
Lots of fun when playing with a group that is in to it but not fun otherwise. The excitement of killing a whole lobby and getting away with it is hard to beat though.
Among Us is a fun concept that would work really well in a world where people weren't stupid or cruel. Unfortunately, that is not this world.
Among Us is great because it has a social aspect that you usually don't see in online games, but if you've played Secret Hitler or Werewolf in-person, it's a similar dynamic where one or more people lie about being bad, and then you try to deduce who the bad people are. Unfortunately, it's hard to deduce that when half the players have the intelligence of a kumquat. People who aren't bad will mislead the team just to be annoying. Even people who aren't malicious will make incorrect assumptions, and if you've ever argued with someone on the internet, you know how productive that is. Playing with friends-only seems like a good option, but I don't have that many friends, so alas. Great concept, worth trying, but it doesn't endure when 50% of the games play out guided by stupidity, incompetence, or malice.
Thought I'd be in the minority here but this game is definitely at its most fun when played with a group. Playing with a random lobby of people isn't as exciting, especially dealing with those who won't listen to reason or the people who just troll the whole time (i.e.: constantly mashing the meeting button for no reason).
This game is really fun IF you are playing with a group of people that you know. The concept of the game is simple and requires you to answer the question, "Who is the imposter Among Us?" Complete tasks to win or successfully guess who is the imposter who is trying to kill your fellow members off one by one. The general public lobbies make it hard because most people don't play the game correctly, but if you have a group of players (or happen to find a good lobby) the game can be very fun.
I wish I could truly capture what I both like and don't like about this game. The collegiate sociologist in me is utterly fascinated seeing humanity in full swing here with everything from trolling to psycho and sociopaths running unchecked. The strategist gamer in me (admittedly also a touch sociopathic and a touch psychopathic) is utterly frustrated playing this with people. The extra star is for the former part. The latter part may only give this 1.5 stars.
